CHARLENE ROCHESTER

ANDERSON, SC – Mrs. Donna Charlene McCurley Rochester was born on August 3, 1973, in Anderson, SC. She entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2011, at her home. She was the beloved wife of Mike Rochester and the loving daughter of Charles & Joyce Pierce McCurley.

Mrs. Rochester was employed at CDS Ensemble as a Customer Service Representative for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as going to baseball games. She was a faithful & devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, her husband, Michael Ray Rochester, Sr.; two sons: Timothy “Chad” Smith and Michael Ray “Tink” Rochester, Jr.; one daughter, Missy Nicole Rochester; sister, Pamela McCurley; brother, Tony McCurley (Karen); grandson, Jadakis Rice; six sisters-in-law: Andrea Mattress (Yusef), Chrystal Rucker (Garrett), Machelle Rochester, Pamela Rochester, Sharon Crosby (Henry), and Sherry Fair; four brothers-in-law: Greg Rochester, Maurice Rochester (Trasha), Reggie Williams (Alneder), and Christopher Williams; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.  She was loved by all and will be remembered as a nurturer and her cream cheese pies. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: William Edgar & Myrtice Reed McCurley, and Joel O. & Rosa Lee Pierce; and sister, Tracy Lynn McCurley.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Beech Springs Tabernacle, Pelzer, conducted by the Reverend Eric Boggs and the Reverend Leland Pitts. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at 310 Brookhaven Court, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday.  Mrs. Rochester will be placed into the Church one hour prior to the funeral service.

JOHN FLEMING

SEPTEMBER 1, 1924 – JULY 24, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – John Henry Fleming, age 86, former resident of Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born September 1, 1924, in Hart County, GA, he was a son of the late John Thomas Fleming and Kate Phillips Fleming. Mr. Fleming served in the United States Army and retired from Wamsutta Mill. He was a member of the South Anderson Lions Club and the American Legion Post No. 184. Additionally, he was a member of Orrville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Hazel King Fleming; and their children: Kathy Skinner (Joe), Robert Fleming (Lynn), and Tina Fleming McCord, all of Anderson, SC; grandchildren: Chris Yates (Kristy), Kris Maples, Cole Fleming, Lauren Kinley, and Austin Kinley; great grandchildren: Chesney Yates and Jaxton Yates; and great god-grandchild, Kelsey Watson.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by three sisters and one brother. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 4pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Dr. Wendell Bannister and the Reverend Rex Simmons. Burial with military honors will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

RAYFORD F. ELGIN, SR.

November 9, 1933 – July 24, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Rayford F. Elgin, Sr., of 4506 Old Mill Road, Anderson, SC, husband of the late Gladys M. Elgin, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Belton, SC on November 9, 1933, he was a son of the late Lonnie I. Elgin and Codie Sloan Elgin.  Mr. Elgin retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service as a Senior Chief Boilerman.  He served aboard one aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown CVA 10, three destroyers, the USS John King DDG3 (Plank Owner), the USS Semmens DDG 18, USS Greenwood DE679.  He served two tours of shore duty at the U. S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL and was a lifetime member of the USS Yorktown Association and the Tin Can Sailors.  He retired from the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company after 22 years of service as an Authorized Nuclear Inspector.  Mr. Elgin was married to Gladys M. Joncas Elgin for 40 years.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. 

Survivors include his daughters, Raelyn VanCasteren  and her husband, Jerry of Houston, TX; two sons, Rayford F. Elgin, Jr., and his wife, Melissa and Randolph Edward Elgin, all of Anderson; three step-daughters, Addie Romanowski and her husband, Stanley of Wisconsin, Maureen Tazbier and Judy Sutton of Illinois and five grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Clinton; brother, Rudolph Elgin and sisters, Grace Jones, Edna Carter and Evelyn Dowd.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Paul William, OFM.  Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Honors.  

The family will be at the residence.  A Prayer Vigil will be held at McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 6:00 pm with visitation following until 9:00 pm.

LEO BURDETTE

MARCH 22, 1924 – JULY 24, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC – Leo “Nig” Burdette, age 87, husband of the late Helen Walls Burdette, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. 

Born March 22, 1924, he was a son of the late Sam Burdette and Ola Gilreath Burdette. Mr. Burdette served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Blair Mill. He was a member of Trinity Springs Church of God, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and also the class secretary. 

Survivors include one brother, Harold Burdette and wife, Lois, of Belton; sisters-in-law: Ella Gentry, Sue Walls, and Claudia Stephens and husband, Harold, all of Anderson; Jean Webb and husband, Harold, and Peggy Brooks and husband, Silas, and Gloria Walls, all of Belton; and brothers-in-law: Rennie Walls and wife, Pat, and DeWitt Walls and wife, Pat all of Anderson, and Oscar Ayers of Starr, and numerous nieces and nephews.   In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was predeceased by a son, Ricky Dean Burdette; a sister, Zoah Ayers; brothers: his twin Theo Burdette, Henry Burdette, Sam Burdette, and Willie Burdette; sister-in-law, Willeen Bridges; and brother-in-law, Doyle Walls.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Don Mullinax and the Reverend Scott Vaughn. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

FRANCES BRANYON SMITH

NOVERMBER 7, 1922- JULY 22, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – Frances Branyon Smith, age 88, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born November 7, 1922, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Duard L. Branyon and Annie McGill Branyon.  Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was also retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas with 25 years of service.  She was a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. She was a member of Ladies Retired Club of Owens Corning Fiberglas. 

Survivors include her son: G. Ronald Smith of Greenville, SC, a granddaughter: Melanie S. Carter and her husband, Miles; and two great granddaughters: Aubrey Frances and Lauren Carter, all of Belmont, NC, loving nieces: Betty Rozier, Mary Clark, and Margaret Adams; and one nephew: Wilton Fowler.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John D. Smith, and her four sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held at 4pm on Monday, July 25, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Jeff Bartlett.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

LUCY LOSKOSKI SCOGGINS

DECEMBER 6, 1919 – JULY 21, 2011

STARR, SC – Lucy Pearl Evans Loskoski Scoggins, age 91, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born December 6, 1919, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Andy Bedford Evans and Pearl Ella Gunter Evans. Mrs. Scoggins retired from the textiles industry having been employed by Abney Mills as well as Clark-Schwebel Fiberglas Corporation. In earlier years, she enjoyed farming.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: son, Melton Earl Loskoski and wife, Sharon, of Starr; daughters: Melvina Ann Gundry and husband, Alex, of Starr; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Loskoski; her second husband, Otis Scoggins; daughters: Betty Smith, Cathy Dale Motes, Lisa Darlene Loskoski, and Susan Loskoski; brothers: Cullen, Willis, George, and Fred Evans; and sisters: Sarah Evans, and Mary Williams.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Mike Harrell. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

STEVE DILLARD

JUNE 3, 1947 – JULY 17, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – Stephen Michael Dillard, age 64, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born June 3, 1947, he was a son of the late Roy Dillard and Jimmie Hodges Dillard. He was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Dillard retired from K-Mart.

Survivors include his wife of nearly thirty-four years, Myra Bowen Dillard; daughter, Heather Puffer and husband, Lee, of Cumming, GA; son, Kenneth Dillard of the home; brother, Richard Dillard and wife, Edith, of Pacolet, SC; and two grandchildren: Micayla and Kyle.

THELMA S. MITCHELL

June 16, 1923 – July 14, 2011

BELTON, SC - Thelma Spearman Mitchell, age 88 of 906 Highway 252, wife of the late George F. Mitchell, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at her residence.

Born in Anderson, SC on June 16, 1923, Mrs. Mitchell as the daughter of the late William Henry Spearman, Sr., and Bertie Owen Spearman.  She retired from the Belton Corporation and was a member of Neal’s Creek Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  

Survivors include her sons, Ricky Mitchell and his wife, Angela of Anderson and Roger Mitchell and his wife, Lisa of Belton; daughters, Carolyn Vaughn and her husband, James of Liberty and Nancy Smith of Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by daughters, Sara and Peggy Mitchell; son-in-law, Ted Smith; two  great-granddaughters;  brothers, George Owen, Rufus Spearman, Mack Spearman, William Spearman, Jr., and Joe Spearman. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Alex Henderson.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

BELTON, SC – Bonnie Bailey Bloodworth went to be home in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 14, 2011.  She was born April 22, 1935, and was a daughter of the late Joe & Nellie Bailey.

Survivors include her husband, David Bloodsworth; daughter, Peggy Haynie of Belton; sons: Larry Zapeline (Donna) of Anderson, and Ricky Sanders of Anderson; grandchildren: Jason Haynie, and Tonya Thomason; great grandchildren: Joda and Mia; brothers: Kenneth Bailey of Kingsland, GA, and Michael Bailey of Anderson; sisters: Jean Johnson (J.T.) of Anderson, Nellie Jo Columbo of Belton, and Carolyn Phillips (Charles) of Jacksonville, FL.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings: Peggy Ann Bailey, Elizabeth Ginn, Edward Bailey, and Joe “Jr” Bailey.

DAN RINK

October 10, 1961 – July 12, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC - Chief Petty Officer, Daniel Robert Rink, USCG Ret’d, age 49, husband of Joanne Davis Rink of 1222 Westgate Road, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at MUSC in Charleston, SC due to complications from cancer.  

Born in Cortland, NY on October 10, 1961, Dan was a son of the late Richard Edward Rink and Yvonne Tracy Rink.  He was a graduate of Liberty University and served in the United States Navy for four years and retired as Chief Petty Officer from the U. S. Coast Guard after 16 years of service. He was currently employed with Anderson County as a Public Safety Officer at Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital. He was a member of NewSpring Church and served there as a greeter.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Brandon Daniel Rink and his wife, Jillian Kathleen Rink and daughter Emily Olivia Rink, all of Anderson; siblings, Brian Rink, Janine Schreck, twin brother, Dennis Rink and Jon Paul Rink, all from the Scranton, PA area.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Mr. Don Janke.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors.

WILLIAM ROBERT GRIFFITH

July 4, 1930 – July 6, 2011  

LEESVILLE, LA = William Robert Griffith, formerly of Anderson, went to be with the Lord, after a short illness in Leesville, LA on July 6, 2011, 2 days after his 81st birthday.  Mr. Griffith retired from the U. S. Army with over 23 years of service, to Leesville, LA.  Mr. Griffith was known as “Bob” or “Uncle Bob” by his family in South Carolina. He will be sorely missed by all.  

He was the son of the late Andrew and Lois Inez Owens Griffith, however, their father, Andrew, was widowed at an early age, and was also in service.  Mr. Griffith and his sister, Vivian, were reared in the Six and Twenty Community by their maternal grandparents, the late Atley and Leila Griffith.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Griffith of Leesville; his sister, Vivian Lois Griffith Davis and her husband, Cecil; his niece, Donna Manly and her husband Richard; his nephew, Steve Davis and his wife, Pam; his niece Terriann Smith and her husband, Dr. Brian Smith of Lexington and nephew, Brad Davis of North Carolina.  He is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.  Also Surviving are the daughters of his present wife, Susie Johnson and Donna Courtney, along with numerous life-long friends in Louisiana. 

Mr. Griffith was predeceased by his first wife, Cindy, along with his parents and grandparents.   

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Griffith officiating. His ashes will be interred at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

Following the service the family will be at the home of his sister, Vivian Davis, 1936 Dobbins Avenue, Anderson, SC.

RAYMOND S. PRUITT

January 12, 1928 – July 12, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Raymond Samuel Pruitt, age 83, husband of Gloria Cooley Pruitt of 1010 West End Avenue, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Anderson County, SC on January 12, 1928, Mr. Pruitt was a son of the late Henry Samuel Pruitt and Amanda Jane Crumley Pruitt. He attended Boy’s High School and Carolina School of Commerce.  He was a United States Army Air Force veteran serving during World War II.  Mr. Pruitt retired as owner/agent of Professional Insurance Agency in Anderson.  He was a life-member of the V. F. W. Post #5996, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #2018 and a former member of the Elks BPOE #1206.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Raymond Matthew Pruitt and his girlfriend, Krista Giuliani of Anderson; step children, Mitzi L. Foster of Anderson and Sonya E. Earl of Columbia; brothers, R. Curtis Pruitt and his wife, Mary and Lalond Pruitt and his wife, Judy all of Anderson and seven grandchildren.  He also leaves behind his beloved pet, Chico Ray. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Monroe and Lewis Pruitt and sisters, Rune’ Thomas and Nancy Jo Pegram.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Charles Holland.   

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, July 15, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

RONNIE ETHRIDGE

ANDERSON - Ronnie Ethridge, 49, of 1639 Shirley Drive, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Born November 8, 1961 in Anderson, he was the son of James Ethridge and Maydell Brown. He was in the upholstery business and was of the Baptist faith. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his mate, Lynn Powell of the home; son, Joseph Ethridge of Anderson; daughter, Casey Thompson of Hampton, VA; 3 sisters, Jenny Brewster, Teresa Sanders and Pam Vickery all of Anderson and two grandsons. Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Ethridge.  

Funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Revs. Ralph Carter and Mike Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family is at the residence.

HAZEL C. GASQUE

ANDERSON - Hazel Ailene Clarke Gasque, 88, of 106 Concord Avenue, wife of the late George Brantley Gasque, Sr., died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.  

Born September 8, 1922 in Morehead City, NC was the daughter of the late W.W. Clarke, Sr. and the late Ailene Mason Clarke. Hazel, with her husband was owner and operator of Master's Cleaners in Walhalla. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are her daughter, Carol Blackwell and her husband, Don of Westminster; son Brantley Gasque and his wife, Mitzi of Anderson; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald M. Clarke and Rev. W.W. Clarke, Jr. 

Funeral service will be held at 3pm Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Rev. Dan Batson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3pm prior to the service at the Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81.

HELEN STANDRIDGE

ANDERSON, SC - Helen Brown Standridge, age 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC on June 30, 1930, Mrs. Standridge was a daughter of the late Samuel Harbin Brown and Cora Whitfield Brown.  She was a graduate of Anderson Girls’ High School. She was a founding member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she served in various ministries especially with children.  Mrs. Standridge was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. 

Survivors include her sons, Joe Steven Standridge and his wife, Marilyn of Greer, SC and Jeffrey Clay Standridge and his wife, Cheri of Abbeville, SC; daughter, Debra S. Hampton of Atlanta, GA; sister Mildred Crisp of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, Russ Jester, Patrick Standridge, Kelly Herring and her husband Chad, Levi, Caleb and Caitlyn Standridge; one great-granddaughter, Annalisa Herring.  Also surviving is her life-long friend, Doris Strickland.  

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, J. C. Standridge; brothers, T. J., Leland and William Brown and sister, Susie Wood. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at Pleasant View Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend David Strickland.  Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.  The Golden Rule Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escort. 

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Mrs. Standridge will be placed in the church at 10:30 am on Saturday.

ANN H. DODSON

March 20, 1920 – July 11, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC - Ann Hively Dodson, age 91, of Anderson, wife of the late William E. Dodson, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at NHC HealthCare in Anderson. 

Born in Dunmore West Virginia on March 20, 1920, Mrs. Dodson was a daughter of the late John A. Hively and Eva Rexrode Hively.  She retired from AT&T as a telephone operator and was a former White House operator during World War II.  She was an avid quilter and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, Don Hively; sisters, Juanita G. Davis, Alice M. Underwood, Sylvia E. Johnson and Truda M. Underwood. 

She was predeceased by brothers, SGT Burley Hively, Hunter Hively and Paul Hively.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Jeff Bartlett and Mike Davis.  Interment will be held in Miami Valley Mausoleum Gardens in Dayton, Ohio.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church, 304 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

FRANKLIN BLACK

SEPTEMBER 23, 1923 – JULY 11, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC – Benjamin Franklin Black, age 87, of 102 Brookhaven Court, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2011.

Born September 23, 1923, in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late Benjamin Edgar Black and Jessie Whitaker Black. He served in the US Army and was a retired Supervisor at the Cushman Mill in Williamston. Mr. Black was a longtime member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and a former Deacon. 

Survivors include his wife of over sixty-three years, Mary Stamps Black; daughter, Judy B. Barbare; son, David L. Black; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. 

The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Jack Couch. The committal service conducted by the Reverend Isham Gilcrease will follow in M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family is at 215 Hazelwood Avenue, Anderson.

Jacky Ray Bridges

SANDY SPRINGS- Jacky Ray Bridges, 67, of Sandy Springs died, Thursday July 7, 2011.

Jacky was the son of the late Clinton and Flonie Bridges. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Jacky loved the Lord and was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nelle, of the home, son, Dana Bridges and his wife, April of Greenville; two sisters, Patsy McAdams of Anderson and Linda Mullinax of Greenville.

Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 9, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 5901 Hwy 187, Anderson. Visitation will be in the Education Building following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Building Fund, 5901 Hwy 187, Anderson, SC 29625.

He was my "bestest" brother, and I loved him dearly.

FREDA F. PARTAIN

October 21, 1948 – July 4, 2011

ANDERSON, SC  - Freda Fox Partain, age 62 of 338 Cann Road, wife of the late Jerry Horton Partain, Sr., died Monday, July 4, 2011.

Born in Crickmer, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Ray Fox and Maxine Moore Fox.  Freda retired from Hartwell Lake Properties and was a member of Crossway Community Church. She was also a member of the Red Hatter Association and an avid reader.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Partain, Jr.; daughters, Traci Wideman and Lisa Riggan; sisters, Carol Wheeler, Mary Tundo, Audrey Netterstrom, Mildred Hughes, Patricia Earp, Crystal Lewis and Terry Fitzpatrick.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lee and Cara Wideman and Jennifer and Hannah Bowen.

She was predeceased by a sister, Doris Partain.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend C. W. Hicks.  Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

DAISY BILLINGS MINYARD

July 31, 1919 – July 6, 2011
                
ANDERSON, SC - Daisy Billings Minyard, age 91, of Anderson, wife of the late Frank Minyard, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Toccoa, GA on July 31, 1919, Mrs. Minyard was a daughter of the late Rev. James Oscar Billings and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Billings.  She was a charter member of the Loyal Order of Moose Ladies Auxiliary and former member of the V.F.W. Post #5996 Ladies Auxiliary. She was of the Holiness Faith.

Survivors include her son, Jack Minyard; daughters, Linda Bridges McCoy, Jane Sears Robinson and Diane Simpson Surls; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, all of Anderson.  Also surviving are four special nieces, Dolly Clay, Juanita Baldwin, Betty Freeman and Alice Morgan.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Kenneth “PeeWee” Minyard; daughter, Jo Ann Standridge Hayes; brother, Larkin Billings and sisters, Nell Morgan and Iola Richey and grandson, Kenny Dale Minyard.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Jane Robinson, 202 Windemere Way, Anderson, SC and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
