ANDERSON - Theresa DalPonte Steinbach, 96, formerly of Sidney, Nebraska, widow of John Steinbach, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Sterling, CO, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Lazaretti DalPonte. She was a house wife and member of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Hoier (Kenneth) of Wheeling, West Virginia; son, John Steinbach (Carol) of Sidney, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren; Dave Steinbach (Margaux) of Phoenix, Arizona; Julie Pile (Tom) of Sidney, Nebraska; Monica Grier (Michael) of Anderson, Tara Hutchcroft (Jerry) of Potosi, Wisconsin and James Hoier of Thornton, Colorado; 13 grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and 3 sisters, Esther Vecchia, Louise Kloberdanz and Mary Mildenberger, all of Sterling, Colorado. She was preceded in death by a brother, Don DalPonte and a sister, Ann Leino.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 North Hwy 81. Funeral service will take place in Sterling, CO later in the week.

ANDERSON – Leon Henry Tate, 82, died Sept. 15, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born on Feb. 16, 1930, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Lila Mae Tate. Retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, he attended Eureka Baptist Church of Anderson, and was a Korean War Veteran. He was active in the Campbell Patriots, American Legion Post #184, where he was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2010. Leon was also a previous Trustee of Little River Electric CO-OP. He truly enjoyed spending time on his farm with his animals and with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ables Tate and his siblings, Maurine T. Parker, Aurelia T. Parker, Lewis B. Tate, and John L. Tate.
He is survived by his sister, Montezz T. Sammons of Taylors, SC and his brother, Rodger Tate, of Anderson. Also survived by his children, Maria T. Stone and her husband David of Belton, R. Russell Tate and his wife Cathy of Greenville, and Beth T. Herron and her husband Walter of Anderson; Beloved grandchildren, Austin Stone and his wife Heather of Williamston, Cason Stone and his wife LeeAnna of Anderson, Hannah Stone, Olivia and Colton Herron, Nicholson, Evan and Emerson Tate; and great-grandson, Caden Leon Stone.

Born October 16, 1951 in Clinton, she was the daughter of the late Jack Hayne Davis, Sr. and Elizabeth Milling Davis Copeland. She was a graduate of Clemson University. Mrs. Adair was a teacher, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. PELZER - Kathryn Freeman Hendricks, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Gardner Freeman and the late Evelyn Banks Freeman. She grew up in the Glassy Mountain area of Pickens, SC and attended Winthrop University. After her marriage in 1938 to James Rhett Hendricks, she moved to Pelzer, SC, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Williamston, SC for over 73 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Hendricks Wyke (Tom) of Charlotte, NC; two sons, James Rhett Hendricks, Jr. (Paula) of Pawleys Island, SC and Dr. David Freeman Hendricks (Joy) of Anderson, SC; one brother, David Lynn Freeman of Greenville, SC; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her one brother; three sisters and one grandson.

ANDERSON – Matthew Cobb “Jet” McClellion, 15, of 102 Savannah Drive, died Friday, September 7, 2012.
Born January 14, 1997 in Greenville, he was the son of Donna Myers McClellion and the late William Richard "Dicky" McClellion, Jr. He was a sophomore at T. L. Hanna High School where he played Baseball and was a member of the Fishing team. Jet also played on the traveling baseball team for the Warriors and worked at the Anderson Jockey Lot. He attended First Baptist Church and NewSpring.
In addition to his mother, Jet is survived by his aunt, Mary Jane Carraway; brothers, William Richard “Mac” McClellion, III and Joseph Michael “Mich” McClellion, all of Anderson; sisters, Amanda Caron McClellion Downs, Sara Elizabeth McClellion, both of Anderson and Whitney Sloan Ramsey of Pendleton; special sister, Khusbu Patel; niece and nephews, Chase, Erin, Caison; aunts, Julia Spalding of FL and Sheila Houston of NC; uncle, Tracy Myers of China; grandfather, Charles P. Myers of Franklin, NC and several cousins.

ANDERSON, SC - Mary Frances McClain Fossum, age 84, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at NHC of Anderson.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late James Cornelius McClain and the late Sarah Elizabeth Sanders McClain. Frances was a 1945 graduate of Girls High. She was a lifetime member and Past President of VFW Auxillary and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Hamby, Marlane Barnette, Pat Brown and Cathy Monroe, all of Anderson; a brother, James Clayton McClain of Rabon Gap, GA; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph William Fossum; and their son, Loren Fossum.

Ollie W. Dunn, age 84, of 116 Stone Drive, Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Westminster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Ramey Wilbanks and the late Effort James Wilbanks.
Mrs. Dunn was an assembly line worker in the plastics division at the Singer Company, which later became the Ryobi Corporation. She retired in 1990 so as to spend more time with family. Ollie was of the Baptist Faith, but attended Westside Church of God of Prophecy for many years.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Calvin T. Born August 27, 1960 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Ansel D. and Barbara Freeman Junkins of Anderson. She was a member of NewSpring Church.

GREENWOOD- Miss Antoinette Dixon Jones, 87, of Wesley Commons, Greenwood, SC, died September 5, 2012.
An Anderson native, Miss Jones was the daughter of the late William F. Jones and Rosamonde Dixon Jones and sister of the late Miriam Jones Chamberlain.
Miss Jones was a 1945 graduate of Winthrop College, and pursued graduate studies at Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA. She was engaged in several careers including a position in an advertising agency in Atlanta. Later she directed alumni activities at Anderson College and was a co-owner of a bill collection agency in Anderson. Miss Jones was a life-long member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Anderson, and was an active, dedicated member who served in many capacities.
Miss Jones was a highly talented writer, and was a valued member of an Anderson writers’ group. She organized and promoted a number of workshops well-attended by area writers. Always noted for her love of family and friends, throughout her life, Miss Jones was a loyal caregiver for her parents, her sister, her three Jones aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, 401 N. Main St. conducted by Rev. Dan Batson. Burial will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the committal service.

ANDERSON – James “Bimini Jim” Franklin Moore, 74, husband of Jean Moore passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012. He was the former owner and operator of Anderson Boat Canvas and member of Temple Baptist Church.
Bimini Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Moore, son, Jeffery Moore (Shawna); daughter, Pamela Sutherland (Michael); son James R. Moore; eight grandchildren, Jeffery, Gabrielle (Scott), Griffin, Ryan, Katrina, Matthew, Shelby and Nic; one great grandson, Roman; one sister Marilynn L. Moore and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert and Lucy Ipock Moore, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, Earl, and Ronald Moore.

PENDLETON - Roy Ellen Osborne Jolly, 94, widow of John Louie Jolly, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born April 30, 1918, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Venie Stone Osborne. She was a graduate of Montreat College, Lander College, and received a Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. Mrs. Jolly was a teacher and librarian at Pendleton High School for 36 years prior to her retirement in 1979. She was a member of Pendleton Presbyterian Church for 86 years. Mrs. Jolly was a woman of tremendous faith who leaves a powerful legacy as a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, as well as an accomplished teacher and a devoted church member all of her life.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynne Jolly Richardson and husband, Kevin, of Lake Barrington, IL; Lee Jolly Smith and husband, Scott of Lexington, SC; granddaughters, Mary Ellen Richardson and Charlotte Richardson; sister, Lorene Finley of Pendleton; nephews, Barry Finley, Alton Finley, Jr., and Manson Jolly; nieces, Dianna Wade and Joy James; and her caregiver, Stephanie Wideman.

SANDY SPRINGS - James Larry Ellison, 77, of 6004 Clemson Boulevard, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born August 13, 1935 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Forest and Clara Holland Ellison. He was the owner and operator of Ellison's Produce for 34 years. Mr. Ellison was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Swift Cain of the home; stepson, Jimmy Cain of Sandy Springs; stepdaughter, Cathy Blume of Anderson; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Ellison and a stepdaughter, Diane Floyd.

Born January 17, 1928 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late James Claude and Ethel Bowlan Cox. Mrs. Watson was an active member of Boulevard Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mellie Brown Jones and husband, Sam of Starr; two sons, Sid Brown and wife, Renee' of Anderson, and Philip D. Brown of Piedmont; son-in-law, A. Fred Stringer, Jr. of Anderson; grandchildren, Dawn M. Robertson and husband, Lee; Sally J. McKee and husband, Kevin and children, Sydney, Axel, and Lexi; Dylan T. Jones and wife, Jenny and daughter, Ella; and Jessica M. Blanding and husband, Leslie and sons, Kaden, Blake, and Braxton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

PIEDMONT - Mildred Brown Peggie, 82, of 106 Sherman Court Ext, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born November 30, 1929 in Madison County, GA, she was the daughter of the late James and Lula Tucker Brown. She was a cosmetologist and was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church. Mildred was active in the clown ministry and served as a soup kitchen volunteer.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Hoffman of Piedmont; two sons, Bud Brooks and his wife, Beth of Iva and Gary Brooks and his wife, Leticia of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Melissa Knight, Adam Brooks and his wife, Kristan, Mathew Brooks and Amy Brooks; two great grandchildren, Madyson and Landyn Brooks; two sisters, Evelyn McAlister and Reba Brock both of Anderson.

ANDERSON - Reverend Ulysses Craig Neill, Jr., 92, of Anderson, husband of Frances M. Neill, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born March 4, 1920 in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late Ulysses Craig and Lanie Mode Neill. He was a graduate of Gastonia High School, Anderson College and Erskine Seminary. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Rev. Neill served as Pastor at Martha Drive Baptist Church, Homeland Park Baptist Church, and Shiloh Baptist Church in Anderson, SC; Southside Baptist Church in Abbeville, SC; Interim Pastor at several churches in the area. He was one of the founders and executive director of the Haven of Rest Ministries and was Pastor Emeritus at Homeland Park Baptist Church.

Gulley (Robert), Carson, Savannah, and Hatcher Adams; great grandchildren, Mary-Grace Irby, Katie-Beth Irby, Ethan Wilson, Thomas Craig Ouzts, Neill Ferguson, Caitlin Sowell, Ashley Sowell, Payton Sowell, Tyler Gulley, and Sarah Gulley; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Rev. Neill was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Grace Grizzle Neill, four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Homeland Park Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ray Thompson. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, 5150 Gentry Road, Anderson, at 5 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence.

ANDERSON, SC - David Wayne Burns, age 66, of 405 Northlake Drive, Anderson, husband of the late Elizabeth Jeanette Burns, died on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Riverhead, NY, he was the son of the late David Henry Burns and the late Laura Mae Conklin Burns.
Mr. Burns graduated from Riverhead High School and spent his career in food service management. He retired as a State of SC employee having served as the manager of the Commissary at Leath Correctional Institution in Greenwood, SC. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his son Brian D. Burns and his wife, Amber of Pendleton; three daughters, Kathleen Iglesias and her husband, Al of Fort Pierce, FL, Deborah Walker and her husband, John of Virginia Beach, VA, and Donna Brunner and her husband, Robert of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Robert Burns and his wife, Maisie, of Bennington, VT, and Clarence Burns and his wife, Lois, of Willow Tree, PA; and five grandchildren, Jason, Brittany and Jordan Walker and Madison and Peyton Burns. David loved his family dearly and had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his devoted wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Burns, and a sister, Gloria Burns.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allyson Helvie officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at 405 Northlake Drive, Anderson, SC, and will receive friends at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following the service of committal.
