L. RAY McCALL
PENDLETON – Luther Ray McCall, 83, of 355 South Broad Street, husband of Grace Swaney McCall, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born November 28, 1925 in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Luther Hill and Leila Yates McCall. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving on the Battleship Missouri. He was a graduate of Pendleton High School and attended Clemson University. He was a retired employee of BASF, Clemson Plant. Mr. McCall was a former member of the Pendleton Exchange Club, and was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Bill King Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Grace S. McCall of the home; two daughters, Sharon McCall Jackson and husband, Doug of Abingdon, VA, and Karon McCall Anthony and husband, Dwayne of Powdersville; one grandson, Eric Douglas Jackson of Bluefield, WV; and a special brother-in-law, Rudolph Swaney of Anderson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elise Richey, Ruby Brock, and Eunice Carver, and a brother, Roy McCall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Dr. Pete Wilbanks and Dr. Don Cox. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Campbell Patriots Honor Guard. Members of the Bill King Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort along with any of Ray’s friends that would like to serve. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence.
