BEA MOORE

SEPTEMBER 22, 1926 – OCTOBER 27, 2009
 
ANDERSON, SC – Beatrice Vanessa Callaway Moore, resident of Summit Place of Anderson died on October 27, 2009. She was born on September 22, 1926, in Anderson, SC, but spent most of her adult life in Belmont, North Carolina.  She was a daughter of the late William Clyde and Mary Holliday Callaway.
 
In 1943, she graduated from Anderson Girls High School followed by enrollment in the Anderson Memorial Hospital Nursing Cadet Program.  Later she graduated from the nursing program at Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC.  She spent many rewarding years at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC, as an Emergency Room/Critical Care nurse.
 
In addition to her parents; Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, James Hoyt Moore; her daughter, Mary Ellen Moore Wortman; a sister, Katherine A. Callaway; and brother, William and Ralph Callaway.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Patricia Moore of Anderson, SC; her son, James Mark Moore and wife, Dottie of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Mary Ashley Walker Smith and husband, Mitchell of Columbia, SC; Katherine Booker Moore Austin and husband, Jason of Greensboro, NC; and Mary Elizabeth Moore of Gastonia, NC; great grandchildren: Erin Whitney Smith, James Boyd Smith, and Mary Claire Smith of Columbia; sister, Lilly Callaway Hendley and husband, Hillman of Valdosta, GA.
 
A private family Service of Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Moore will be held at Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Belmont, NC, on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at 2pm.  The Reverend Lawrence Johnson will conduct the service.  Interment will follow in the cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621; First Methodist Church, P. O. Box 748, Belmont, NC 28012; or to the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank Summit Place of Anderson for their kindness and loving care.
