LEILA GRAY

STARR, SC - Leila Harris Gray, age 82, of 503 Good Hope Church Road, wife of the late Thomas Gray, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.
 
Born in the Poplar Spring Community of Iva, SC, she was a daughter of the late Gaines Harris and Beulah Meeks Harris.  She was a graduate of Starr High School and worked in textiles for many years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iva and a former member of Good Hope Baptist Church.  Mrs. Gray worked faithfully with her husband on their family farm and was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law.
 
Survivors include her sons, Mike Gray and his wife, Vickie of Starr and Reverend Jerry Gray and his wife, Melba, of Iva; sister, Sara Turney of Laurel, MD; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Iva, officiated by the Reverend Jerry Gray and Reverend Robbie Garrett. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. The family will be at the residence. Flowers are optional.  Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Iva, P.O. Box 475, Iva, SC 29655 or the Building Fund of Good Hope Baptist Church, 221 Good Hope Church Road, Iva, SC 29655.
