SHELBY JEAN LEDFORD SNIPES

AUGUST 19, 1937 – NOVEMBER 11, 2009
ANDERSON, SC – Shelby Jean Ledford Snipes, age 72, of 104 Kings Gate Way, passed away on November 11, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.
 
Born in Anderson, SC, on August 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Andrew L. Ledford and Josie Reed Ledford.  She was a retired Office Manager, having been employed at Internal Medicine and Med-Central.  Mrs. Snipes was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she faithfully belonged to the Joy Sunday School Class.
 
Survivors include her children: a son, Eddie Lee Snipes and wife, Karen of Williamston, SC; a daughter, Jeannie Snipes Mahaffey and husband, Lyndon of Belton, SC; grandchildren: Andy Rumsey, Adam Rumsey, Carmon Logan, Lindsay Moore, and Emily Simmons; great grandchildren: Taylor Crumpton and William Jake Snipes; two nephews that were as special as grandchildren: Jonathon Eiland and Evan Eiland; a very dear friend, Frances Gray of Iva, SC; and a host of many other friends.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie T, Saville; her second husband, J.C. Snipes; and an infant sister. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 13, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Dean Weaver and Dr. Don R. Cox.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Members of the Joy Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort.
 
The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
