SUSAN ELIZABETH PRICE GARRISON
OLDEST MEMBER OF WELCOME BAPTIST CHURCH
ANDERSON – Susan Elizabeth Price Garrison, 99, of Garrison Road, widow of Paul Hutchison Garrison, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at National Healthcare of Anderson.
Mrs. Garrison was born in Anderson County on February 6, 1910, the daughter of the late Robert Harrison and Johnnie Florence Smith Price.
She graduated from Seneca High School and attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill. She was the oldest member of Welcome Baptist Church where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a fulltime homemaker and enjoyed her family and gardening.
Mrs. Garrison is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Garrison McClellan of Anderson and her son, James Paul Garrison of Anderson; three grandchildren, David McClellan of Anderson, Brian McClellan and his wife, Julie of Highlands, NC, and Susan McClellan of Anderson; four great grandsons, Paul Hallman, William Hallman, Luke McClellan, and Matthew McClellan; and one sister-in-law, Eunice Garrison DeLoache of Easley.
Mrs. Garrison was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her sister, Doris Price Bolt and her brothers, John Harrison Price, Julius Earle Price, and Robert Witherspoon Price.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Welcome
Baptist Church on Clemson Boulevard conducted by William R. West, Jr. The family will receive friends at the church. Burial will be in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Seneca.
Pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Paul Hallman, William Hallman, Luke McClellan, and Matthew McClellan. In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased to have memorials made to Welcome Baptist Church, P.O. Box 757, Sandy Springs, SC 29677.
