SHIRLEY THRASHER RAMPEY

ANDERSON, SC – Shirley Thrasher Rampey, 71, of Anderson, SC, wife of Edwin Marvin Rampey, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born May 23, 1938 in LaFrance, SC, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dallas Beatrice Leopard Thrasher.  She was a longtime employee of Mark Twain Bank in St. Louis, MO, a homemaker and member of Grace Episcopal Church here in Anderson, where she was on the Altar Guild.

Surviving are her husband, Edwin, of the home; son Randal Lamar Rampey and his wife Connie of Concord, NC; daughter, Pamela Sheree Jay and her husband John of Alpharetta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Jay, Rachael Allison Jay and Christopher Gabriel Jay; 3 brothers, Doyle Lee Thrasher, Larry Tyrone Thrasher both of Anderson and Berry Edward Thrasher of Easley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Leon Thrasher.

Funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church with The Rev. Jack Hardaway officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Clemson. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N. The family is at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
