GENE T. MOON

December 20, 1937 – August 19, 2009

     ANDERSON, SC - Gene Thomas Moon, age 71, of 121 Park Way, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at his residence.

     Born in Elbert County, GA, he was a son of the late Thomas W. Moon and Corene David Moon. He retired as co-owner of Moon Brothers Tile and Stone, Inc. after 26 years of service. Gene was involved in Civil Defense for 15 years and was a member of West Whitner Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon.

     He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beth Rice Moon; son, Tony Moon and his wife, Brenda of Anderson; daughter, Sherry Moon of Six Mile; four grandchildren, Clint Powell who was raised in the home, Charity Grace Powell, Gabriel Moon and Michaela Moon; brother, James W. Moon and his wife, Linda Jo of Anderson; sisters, Helen Motes and her husband, Gerald of Anderson, Lavera Harper and her husband, Larry and Jesse Slay and her husband, Wilton, all of Dewy Rose, GA and Cindy Dunn of Bowman, GA. He is also survived by his beloved Boston Terrier, Bubba. Gene was predeceased by a brother, Joe C. Moon.

     The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Jerry Durham and Jonathan McGary. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery, Bowman, GA.

     The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm The family will be at the residence. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to West Whitner Baptist Church, 2403 W. Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
