DON KIERCE
January 19, 1927- September 2, 2009
Anderson, SC - Donald Eugene Kierce, age 82, husband of the late Mary Clyde Brewer Kierce of Anderson, died Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Chicago, IL on January 19, 1927, Mr. Kierce was the son of the late Lee Roy Daniel Kierce and Estelle Zebrowski Anderson. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in 1955. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran, serving on the USS Pennsylvania and during the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force Reserves. Mr. Kierce lived most of his life in Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Anderson in 1970. He was president of Bulk Equipment Manufacturing, Inc, in Lavonia, GA, a manufacturer of bulk feed transportation equipment. Mr. Kierce was involved for many years in the poultry industry, being a member of the Southeastern International Poultry Federation and several state Federations.
Survivors include his sons, Donald C. “Buddy” Kierce and his wife, Pamela of
Anderson and David S. Kierce of Greenville; daughters, Danielle K. Roberts and her husband, Jeff of Anderson and Dorian E. Kierce and fiancé Timothy Curlee of Anderson; brother, Robert Carl Kierce of Duluth, GA; five grandchildren, Dayna Kierce and fiancé, Nick Reed of Atlanta, GA, Blair Kierce of Bowling Green, KY, Albert, Catherine and Caroline Roberts, of Anderson.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, officiated by the Reverend Courtney Krueger. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with U.S. Navy Military Honors. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will be at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Jeff Roberts, 506 Woodland Way, Anderson, SC.
