DOT SMITH

June 28, 1919 – June 1, 2010

 

ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC - Dot Smith, 90 years of age, passed away on June 1, 2010, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, David and Shane Smith at St. Helena Island, South Carolina. 

 

Dot was born on June 28, 1919, in Anderson County South Carolina and resided in Anderson until she moved to St. Helena's Island seven years ago.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson and was employed by Gallant-Belk in Anderson for over thirty years until her retirement.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cannon Smith, in 1977, and her parents, John David and Bessie Hall Whitaker of the Flat Rock Community,

Anderson, South Carolina.

 

Dot is survived by sons, David Cannon Smith (Shane) of St. Helena's Island and James Douglas Gary (Marilyn) of Huntsville, Texas; three grandchildren,

Marla Hash (Jim) of San Antonio, Texas, Susan Wilburn (Keith) of Gatesville, Texas, Scott Douglas Gary of Huntsville, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren; and six

great-great grandchildren.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on July 13, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, South Carolina.
