JAMES B. PRUITT, JR.
MARCH 21, 1936 – SEPTEMBER 24, 2010
ANDERSON, SC –James “Jim” Burriss Pruitt, Jr., age 74, of 105 Nottingham Court, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010.
Born in Anderson County, on March 21, 1936, he was a son of the late Judge James B. Pruitt and Sara Smith Pruitt. He was a graduate of Anderson Boys’ High School and was a graduate of Emory University. He served in the United States Army and was a retired Educator having taught at T.L. Hanna High School for twenty years. A lover of antique furniture, he was the owner of Pendleton Place Antiques in Pendleton. Mr. Pruitt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Maudianna Wigington Pruitt; children: James B. Pruitt, III, of Anderson, Thomas Jonathan Pruitt and wife, Heidi, of Starr, and Anna Jane Pruitt of Anderson; three grandchildren: Ellison Pruitt, Peyton Pruitt, and McCray Pruitt. He is also survived by two brothers: Forrest Smith Pruitt and wife, Martha Morrow Pruitt, of Anderson, and Patrick Major Pruitt of Chicago, IL.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at New Silver Brook Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Johnny F. McKinney.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621, or to the First Baptist Church, 307 South Manning Street, Anderson, SC 29624
