MARGARET F. CRUMPTON
May 19, 1929 – May 31, 2013
Margaret Ellen Fowler Crumpton, age 84, of 100 Boston Street, entered into her Heavenly home on Friday, May 31, 2013, upon her death at Rainey Hospice House. She was surrounded by the love of her family who cherished her so much. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late William C. Chastain and the late Rosa Fowler Chastain. For 50 years, Margaret was the loving and devoted wife of the late Calvin G. Crumpton, Sr. until his death in 2000.
Mrs. Crumpton was a graduate of Girls High School in Anderson. She was employed at Anderson Memorial Hospital as an O.B. Technician, a position from which she retired after 40 years of service. Margaret loved her animals. She had 4 cats and a dog which brought her much joy. Mrs. Crumpton was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Anderson where she was active for 75 years.
She is survived by a son, Grady Crumpton of Barnwell, SC; 4 daughters, Carolyn Wardlaw of Hull, GA, Beth Gilbert and her husband, Jimmy, of Anderson, Judy Cobb of Anderson, and Susan Franklin and her husband, Robert, of Winterville, GA; and a sister-in-law, Emily Fowler of Columbia. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Calvin, Mrs. Crumpton was preceded in death by a great grandson, John L. Cobb, and a brother, Aubrey Fowler.
A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Margaret Crumpton will be held at the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 2 PM, with Rev. Scott Bramlett officiating. Interment will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, June 3, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Exalted Rehab and Health Care and Rainey Hospice House for the loving care they provided Mrs. Crumpton.
