JIM H. CALDWELL
NOVEMBER 7, 1930 – DECEMBER 17, 2009
ANDERSON, SC – James Harold Caldwell, age 79, died on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, SC, on November 7, 1930, he was a son of the late John Patrick “J.P.” and Carrielu Davenport Cunningham Caldwell -- both of Laurens County, SC. He was educated in the Greenville City School System; as a youth worked in the Roy Bass Motor Company Shop, where his father was the Service Manager. Mr. Caldwell served in the United States Navy. He worked for E.T. WNC Transport Company – driving fuel trucks for Amoco Oil. He later became a Technician and Installer for fuel tanks and pumps at filling stations. In later years, he was also employed by Gaslight of Greenville. He joined Pendleton Street Baptist Church in Greenville as a youth. Mr. Caldwell was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Ashley of the home; son-in-law, Tony Makison of Greenville, SC; brother, John W. “Bill” Caldwell, Sr. of Anderson, SC; and his brothers’ children: Pat Caldwell of Fredericksburg, VA, Johnny Caldwell of Anderson, SC, Becky C. Jones of Pendleton, SC, Tommy Caldwell of Anderson, SC, Dr. Kenny Caldwell of Awendaw, SC, Laurie Scheffer of Hanahan, SC, and Chris Caldwell of Anderson, SC. He is also survived by Ms. Ashley’s children, Jeannie Wisner and husband, Eric of Atlanta, GA, and Jeff Ashley and wife, Cindy of Greenville, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Kim Caldwell Makison.
Inturnment of a portion of his remains will be with his parents and daughter in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
