JAMES T. WILKERSON

ANDERSON – James Thomas Wilkerson, 75, of Anderson, husband of Linda Wilkerson, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Regency Hospital in Greenville.

Born August 13, 1934 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Walter and Garland Minish Wilkerson. He was a graduate of Hartwell High School and Clemson College in 1955 where he was a member of Pershing Rifles. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Later he worked for Lowenstein and Monsanto Company in Columbia, SC, Decatur, AL, Charlotte, NC and New York City, NY. He twice won the Master Salesman Award for outstanding achievement with Monsanto. After retirement he moved to Anderson and joined the real estate firm of Maxwell and Co. Jim had been a volunteer with the Literacy Association, Keep America Beautiful and the Harper’s Ridge Homeowners Association. He enjoyed gardening, antique collecting and art, both as a collector and as an artist.

Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years, Linda Waters Wilkerson, of the home, three children, Kandy Howatt (Bobby) of Roswell, GA, James Thomas “Todd” Wilkerson, Jr. (Lesley) of Sandy Springs, GA and Paige Zoltewicz (Jack) of Bloomington, IN; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Caroline, Christopher, Lily, Emma, Elsa, Eli, Henry, Charlie, Tyler and Valerie; one brother, Jerry Obie Wilkerson (Mary Lou) of Seattle, WA.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haven of Rest, 219 W. Whitner St, Anderson, SC 29624.
