BILL BOWMAN
APRIL 17, 1936 – SEPTEMBER 2, 2009
ANDERSON, SC – Billy Ray Bowman, age 73, of 3018 Hazel Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Pickens County on April 17, 1936, he was a son of the late Walter Carmack Bowman and Ethel Pauline Hodges Bowman. He retired from Mayfair Mills in Starr and had formerly attended Centerville Church of God. Mr. Bowman’s greatest passion was caring for his beloved bulldog, “Buster”.
Survivors include his wife, Mary “Faye” Jones Bowman of the home; daughters: Phyllis Bowman McClure and husband, Billy of Anderson, and Susan Bowman Brown and husband, Duane of Iva; and a son, Timothy Ray Bowman and wife, Deborah of Iva; brother, James Norman Bowman of Anderson; sister, Linda Parham of Anderson; aunt, Edith Leonard of Easley; and sisters-in-law: Ruby McCurley, Dot Kirby, and Betty Anderson and husband, James, and Sue Bowman. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, a son, Tony Joe Bowman, and a brother, Walter Thomas Bowman, predeceased him. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Paul Young and the Reverend Ronnie Powell. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, September 4, 2009.
