LANE W. McCULLOUGH, SR.

February 6, 1932 – May 27, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Lane Watson McCullough, Sr., affectionately known as “Poppy”, age 81, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Iva, SC, he was the son of the late Ernest Watson McCullough and the late Annie Mae Brown McCullough.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea. He retired from Bahnson Service Co. after 32 years of service.  Lane was a charter member of Middleton Road Baptist Church and attended the Men’s Bible Class.  He was a founding and established member of Flat Rock-Bowen Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a lifelong farmer and was famous for his Brunswick stew and cole slaw.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jones McCullough; a son, Lane Watson “Buster” McCullough, Jr. and his wife Renee; a daughter, Mary Jane Hendrickson and her husband, Dan; sisters, Linda McCullough and Wilda Smith; brothers, Jerry, Henry and Wayne McCullough; six grandchildren, Brandon and his wife Lori, Hannah, Clint, Katrina, Jessie and Natalie; and two great-grandchildren, Reece and Leila Beth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Leonard Jones McCullough; and two brothers, Charles and George Edward McCullough. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Middleton Road Baptist Church with Reverend Hayward Tomblin and Reverend Ralph Carter officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
