AVID ALLEN GLASS

RICHMOND, VA - David Allen Glass, 44, of Glen Allen, surrounded with love by his parents, wife and children, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 27, 2013 after a courageous, three-year battle with ALS. 

Born March 21, 1969 in Charleston, S.C., David was the son of Harold Eugene Glass and Catherine Nelson Glass. He was a 1992 graduate of Clemson University, where he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. David was the owner and operator of Colonial Drafting, LLC. Prior to starting his own company, he worked for Centex Homes in Richmond, Va., and Greenville, S.C. David was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Richmond, Va. He also enjoyed attending Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Glen Allen, Va., with his family. Prior to leaving Greenville, S.C., he was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. David's greatest joys were his family, his friends and his beloved Clemson Tigers. He always found time for his wife and children. The memories they made will last forever. His friendships were lifelong and filled with love, adventure and fun. He was a devoted Clemson Tiger fan and member of IPTAY. He loved attending Clemson football games and NASCAR races. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. David faced his illness head on and with great courage. He was an inspiration to everyone who witnessed his battle with ALS. His favorite Bible verse was Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength and ever-present help in times of trouble." He lived these words in his life and illness. He was a man of faith, integrity, compassion and humility. His giving spirit was present in everything he did and to everyone he touched throughout his life. His smile and laugh were contagious, putting everyone he met at ease. His positive attitude was an inspiration. 

Surviving in addition to his parents are his loving wife, Kathy Thomas Glass; a son, David Allen Glass Jr.; a daughter, Caroline Rice Glass; three sisters and their spouses, Sandi and Victor Meza, Cindi Glass, Sheila and Paul Guyer; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Gwen and Tim Stowe, Janet and Rev. Bill Parnell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. David is also survived by his extended family, Dr. Sandy Powell, Gerry Powell and Jeff and Mandy Powell. 

He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allen and Marnoceta Thomas. 

A celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church, Richmond, Va. Family will receive friends at a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 12 noon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DC/MD/VA Chapter of the ALS Association, 2807 N. Parham Rd., Suite 101, Richmond, Va. 23294. David's daughter started Cari's Creations, LLC jewelry and accessories to honor her dad by raising money to find a cure for ALS. 

Bliley's Funeral Home - Central Chapel, Richmond, Va., and McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, S.C., will be serving the Glass family.
